Ammon and Carter love to wrestle with Colby, they are always playing on the living room floor. The boys are becoming very tough and pretty aggresive (which isn't neccesarily a good thing), they are all boy! Here are some fun pictures of them rough housing with daddy.
We had a couple of other families over on Monday for family home evening and decorated these haunted houses. The dads built the houses using graham crackers and hot glue, then the moms and kids decorated them. Thanks to these gummy body parts, they turned out pretty scary. We had a fun night. Since we've had our haunted house on display, I am
constantly catching little boys climbing up on the kitchen counter trying to pick candy off of it. I have also found half-eaten whoppers (which Carter has decided he doesn't like, but keeps forgetting and picking them off the house anyways) all over the house. I finally had to throw the house away when the roof caved in
because Ammon tried to take the gummy eyes off. I guess we'll have to try again next year!
While we were in Utah, we spent an afternoon with the Frost family. The kids had so much fun spending time with Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles and all their cousins. We went to Mcdonald's for lunch (which Ammon loved!) then we went to the Treehouse museum for a Halloween activity called The Enchanted Forest. It was fun to see the boys play with their cousins, and it was very sad to say goodbye. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in December.
Colby's white coat ceremony was held on September 16. It was really neat! It was a ceremony, very similar to a graduation, except it marked the beginning of his medical education rather than the end of it. My visiting teacher offered to watch the kids so I didn't have to chase them around. It was so nice to be able to go and watch without any interuptions. It was almost like we were on a date (except for the fact that we didn't see each other most of the time, but that's just a minor detail!) We both feel very blessed to be able to be in Iowa and for the opportunity that Colby has to get an education. We miss all of our friends and family, but we know that we are in the right place!
Ammon has a friend, Caden Campbell, who only lives 2 doors down from us. Ammon and Caden have so much fun playing together. Ammon asks me everyday if he can go to Caden's house and play and if I tell him "no" he will say, "oh, okay, then Caden could just come to our house." Ammon is very grateful that he has a friend that lives so close
Beaverdale is a little town just Southwest of Johnston. Every year in September they have a Fall festival sponsored by the city. We took the kids to the festival parade on Saturday and they had a blast! They had free donuts and orange juice before the parade started, then they handed out candy bags to the kids. I couldn't believe how much candy they threw, the boys actually got sick of picking it up. About half way through the parade they both decided they were ready to stop collecting candy and start eating it! It was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast!
I thought this was such a cute picture of the boys in their bunk bed. I love this bunk bed because it has such a neat history. Colby's dad built this bed when Colby was a little boy and he slept in it for alot of his childhood. When I was pregnant with Carter, Colby painted it blue for our boys. It was a lot of work, but it turned out great! I can't believe my boys are big enough for a bunk bed, they are growing so fast!
We are lucky enough to live right across the street from the Johnston city library. It is a new facility and they have a great "kids area" 
where the kids can go to read, do puzzles , play with puppets or just lounge on the giant stuffed lion or dragon. They also have great programs for the kids. Last week we went to a program called "ROAR" and we learned all about lions. We even learned some songs about lions, did a lion dance and made a lion mask. Today at story time the kids learned about bees and honey. They got to sample different kinds of honey, sang a song about bees anbees and colored a bee picture. They each came home with a bit 'o honey candy. The kids love to go to these programs and look forward to story time each week. Sometimes we just walk over to the library to "hang out." The kids love to go to and pick out books and movies. Sometimes if we're lucky, we can even visit Daddy when he is studying. We are so glad that we are able to live so close to the library.
It was very hot and humid when we first moved to Iowa. The boys loved to go outside and cool off with a popsicle (I had to ban them from the house because they made such a big mess!) Now it is starting to cool down and we are looking forward to the fall. Ammon is already talking about what he is going to be for Halloween and what Santa Clause is bringing him for Christmas!
