Major Awards

With the end of school and the beginning of Summer came lots of fun awards ceremonies for the kids. We had dance awards, tumbling awards, the Blue and Gold Banquet, 1st grade awards and 3rd grade awards.  Some of the award ceremonies celebrated actual accomplishments and some others contained a lot of made up awards;  just to make sure every kid won something :)  But every time,  I went,  I watched, I took pictures and I teared up a little whenever I heard one of my kid's names called.  Every time.  Not because I was so proud of my "2nd year dance student"  or my "Ravenous Reader"  (that would be one of those made up awards), but because they're mine, and that's what moms do.   I love watching them learn and grow and become the incredible little people that they are, even if it means sitting on super uncomfortable bleachers for 2 hours,  2 days in a row when I'm 8 months pregnant.... they're totally worth it.

Blue and Gold Banquet

At the Blue and Gold Banquet,  Ammon received his Bear rank.  He also earned 3 arrowpoints, a progress toward ranks patch and 8 belt loops. Ammon loves Cub Scouts and he has been working so hard for these accomplishments.

This past year,  my boys both decided that it is no longer "cool" to wear collared shirts.  Unfortuately,  they own a lot of collared shirts.  One day during the last week of school,  Ammon had an award ceremony and Carter had an "Author's tea," and they both willingly wore shirts with a collar.  (I think their teachers had encouraged them to dress "nice").  I had to get a picture of my handsome boys,  the one day (other than school picture day) that they BOTH wore collared shirts.

3rd grade awards

I didn't get very many great pictures of Ammon's school awards,  mostly because every time I tried to take his picture he gave me a dirty look... and later told me how embarrassing I am.  But, with or without pictures I was very proud of our big third grader.  I did get a video of the awards,  which is probably only interesting if you're his mom or grandma,  but I put it on here just for kicks (and grandmas). Ammon received awards for;

Outstanding Reading Achievement
Honor Roll
Outstanding Achievement in Language Arts
Ravenous Reader
Terrific Tiger Award for his creative mind

1st grade awards

I guess in first grade it's still okay to have your mom around taking pictures.  Carter posed and smiled for lots of photos.  Carter also received lots of awards,  I was especially proud of him for being chosen as the "Exemplary Student" for the first grade.  This award is given to one first grade student "in recognition of outstanding behavior and diligence."  Way to go Carter!   Here are Carters 1st grade awards;

Exemplary Student
A Honor Roll
Terrific Tiger Award for his love of learning and doing well in school
Terrific Tiger award for responsibility

Cart is obviously more excited about this ceremony than his classmates!

And here are those videos,  if you happen to be one of those grandmas I spoke of.

Wow,  we have some good kids. :)

Baby Shower

One of the things I love about Texas is all the wonderful people here.  We have been so blessed to have many good friends and a great support system.  Two of those good friends threw me a baby shower on Saturday.  I was so grateful to Megan and Jen for all their hard work;  the great food, incredible decorations, cute diaper cake, etc.  Altough this is baby #4 and boy #3,  we were in serious need of baby boy stuff around here (probably due to the fact that it's been seven years since the last little man joined our family).  I now feel totally (well, almost totally) prepared to welcome this baby to our family.

Me and Ashley enjoying the brunch.

Some of the fun shower guests.  (I didn't think to get a picture until a handful of guests had already left)

Super giant belly at 35 weeks.

Megan, Jen and I.  These girls are great! Thanks for the fun shower.

I was so excited my friend Janene was in town for the weekend and got to join the party.

The kids were all so excited to see the fun things I recieved for their baby brother,  especially this little twirpy. I think she kisses my belly like this about ten times a day.  I just hope she is still this excited about the baby when she realizes that she is no longer the center of attention.  :)
