First of all I want to say that I have the best mom and mother-in-law in the world! We were so excited to receive Valentines in the mail from Grandma Frost and Grandma Stewart. Thanks so much for always thinking of us, we love getting your fun surprises in the mail.
I absolutely love these little jeans that Grandma sent, aren't they the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Last night Colby and I went on a "hot date" to the DMU Winter Gala. The Gala is an annual event put on by Des Moines University. It is a fancy event held at the Conference center downtown, complete with fresh flowers, great food and a live band. In short, it is the best time that $30,000 a year in tuition can buy.
We started out the night by having our friends the Jolleys over for appetizers and sparkling apple juice. After our "meal," we put the kids to bed and headed out for the night. A huge "Thank You" to my wonderful friend Brittany for coming over to watch our kids so we could go to the dance and another "Thank You" to my kids for behaving for her.
You couldn't beat the live band, their sweet hats and the chick with the 80's hairstyle and long leather boots. This is not the best picture but I had to include it because they were one of the highlights of the night.
After a while, Colby thought he had taken enough pictures of us- so we started taking pictures of ourselves. Me and Lisa Nance got this great self portrait after a few failed attempts.
Natali Jolley and I had a great time eating, socializing and trying to talk our husbands into dancing and introducing us to their "school friends."
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the terrific food, the huge chocolate fountain, the beautiful flowers or the many girls in the too tight, too short dresses. We had a great night, but will we make it to the Gala next year? I don't know if they will admit anyone over 30, but we'll see.

What a fun night! You look gorgeous!!!
Has it really been a year? Matt will be so disappointed we missed out on that. :)
Looks like you guys had a fun night. I'm sure my husband will be so upset he missed out. I do miss the food they had. That was great! You look so good after just having a baby.
Looks like a fun night. Maybe next year will be the year I succeed in getting Ben there. I was so close this year!
You two deserve a fun night out! And there is no better time then dancing, food and friends! Looks like you had such a great night! Can't with to see you in just a couple of weeks!
How great that you got to go out on a hot date with your husband! You look great and Abbi's jeans are super cute. I need to do that.
You look absolutely gorgeous - I love your dress! I'm glad you got a night out - you deserve it! I do love Abbi's pants - too bad they don't make them in our size, eh?
oh I can just picture Colb out there cutting a rug... awesome. Our stake always puts on dances and we haven't been to any of them because my husband refuses to dance. It sounds like Colby has no qualms with it; how nice. I'm glad you enjoyed your hot date, I've heard those are hard to come by.
you look fantastic! your daughter is precious.so cute. i'm glad you had such a fun night.. i have not been dancing for so long i don't know if i would really know how any more. :)
p.s. happy anniversary.
You look great Shauni!
That looks like fun! And it's true, you do look awesome!!!! Are you sure you just had a baby?
I've been totally negligent on my blogging lately, so I'm sure I missed this explanation somewhere, but why does Carter have that big bandaid on his forehead in your family picture? Is he going to have a scar like his dad?
Your dinner looked like fun.
You didn't miss anything Mike, there was no explanation for the bandaid other than he is a three year old boy. He had a little owie on his head that was bleeding and I neglected to take the bandaid off the night before pictures so I was faced with the decision do I leave the bandaid on for the picture or force him to take it off, causing him to throw a big fit during the pictures? Obviously I opted for the happy child with a giant bandaid on his head. Because he usually has some kind of bandaid on his face I figured this was more realistic anyways.
